MAFL Intern Call - Spring 2022

Description
MAFL is seeking a student intern to assist with tournament administration for the Spring 2022 semester. Our goal is to better prepare students for graduate school and/or forensics careers by creating an opportunity to gain valuable experience in running a ballot table, directing Extemp prep, tabulating with SpeechWire tabulation software and more. The MAFL intern may continue to compete during the Saturday half of MAFL swings, but will work with the tournament staff instead of competing on Sundays.

Eligibility
To be a MAFL Intern, you need to be in your senior year of competitive speech and able to attend the following tournaments:
  • MAFL 4-5 (January 22-23, 2022)
  • MAFL 6-7 (February 26-27, 2022)
In reviewing applications, the MAFL Executive Committee will be considering students’ experience with leadership, organizational skills, as well as future goals within the forensics community.

Application Materials
To apply, please submit the following in digital form to Vance Pierce (
vpierce4@uic.edu) by Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 5:00 pm CST.

The internship was an incredibly rewarding experience that let me learn more about the behind the scenes aspects of forensics that many of us take for granted. It also surrounded me with some of the smartest and nicest people our community has to offer. The knowledge I took away from it will serve me well as I find ways to make my own contributions to this amazing activity. - Matthew DuPuis
